Creating environment education material, teaching modules and campaigns relevant to local biodiversity based on our research.
Environmental education is vital for fostering awareness and understanding of ecological issues, empowering individuals to engage in sustainable practices. According to the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KM GBF), one of the key targets emphasizes the need for “education, training, and awareness-raising” to enhance understanding of biodiversity and its importance. This initiative aims to ensure that all people have access to quality environmental education, which is crucial for promoting conservation efforts and addressing biodiversity loss effectively. By equipping individuals with knowledge and skills, environmental education plays a pivotal role in nurturing responsible stewards of the planet for future generations.
Over the years our team has curated teaching modules for various groups. We conduct a host of workshops on topics like:
All these modules are customized to the audience, catering from kindergarten students and volunteers to college and post graduate students. Our staff are also invited to conduct popular talks in urban schools and colleges, we regularly conduct workshops & training programs for forest department staff across the state engaging in more technical aspects of management and ecology.
The Bangalore for Bannerghatta initiative (an A Rocha India volunteer group initiative) has conducted several workshops, campaigns and outreach programs to uplift the local communities via education and basic literacy. Activities like bird watching, tree identification, nature interpretation and learning via various art & media forms are incorporated in all our programs.
