Field Study Centre
A Rocha organizations globally work via a unique field study centre model, running their operations via a multi-use facility that is typically located close to our work sites. Field study centre’s are not only a great place to mobilise field work but also give us a chance to be an integral part of the landscape we work in.
Its a place where we conduct research, environmental education programs, provide hands-on conservation opportunities for interns and volunteers as well as a home for our staff. Here, we strive to create a strong community that works together to address conservation issues.
The A Rocha field study center adjoins the northern range of Bannerghatta National Park. Located 20 kms south of the center of Bangalore, the center is our national office and the national headquarters for India, it allows us to mobilise our work right out of the heart of the landscape. Another satellite centre is located in Lakshmipura – a village across the state border in Tamil Nadu – it is used primarily for mobilizing our operations into the Hosur forest division and its connected habitats.
Kasserguppe
The A Rocha field study center adjoins the northern range of Bannerghatta National Park. Located 20 kms south of Bangalore, the center is our national office and the national headquarters for A Rocha India. The centre offers visitors the opportunity to engage in conservation and environmental activities, experience rural living and observe local birdlife and wildlife. Our list of visitors includes researchers studying ecological and human communities, wildlife and nature enthusiasts looking to spend time in nature.
Lakshmipura
We also have another satellite centre which is located in Lakshmipura – a village across the state border in Tamil Nadu. It is used primarily for mobilizing our operations into the Hosur forest division and its connected habitats.
Both A Rocha field study centres are located in villages that regularly face conflict with wildlife. These challenges make our presence in the village that much more important and necessary.
