Sustainable livelihoods

Providing alternative means of livelihoods for communities that are directly dependent on forest resources is an important conservation measure.

Due to our established presence in the Bannerghatta Hosur landscape we have been able to gauge the needs of the local community based on recorded evidence. We use this data to drive change in the upliftment of these communities. Some of our initiatives to augment livelihoods include sustainable practices like bee farming, where we provide beehive boxes to local villagers as a means to increase livelihood opportunities. Another initiative is to train local communities to use lantana – a gregarious invasive weed – to create artifacts and furniture which can be sold for profit.
